Shamanic Back Protective Amulet With Bell Chimes

A back protective amulet with bell chimes made of iron. This amulet can be attached to the shaman’s costume, piece of equipment or simply used as decoration. The body of the amulet width is around ~20 cm and its height is around ~7cm. The attached bell chimes are about ~12 cm in length.
This amulet was handmade by a craftsman at a local market in Mongolia.

In Mongolia we called this back protective amulet a zel /зэл/. Its main body has representation of mountains, sky, sun and moon. This symbolize the space where the spirit of the shaman lives. The amulet as three sets of three bell chimes pendants attached. This amulet is usually attached on the back of the costume as it is the most vulnerable part of the body. Indeed, while beating on his or her drum to call the spirit, a shaman usually bends forward to help get in trance more easily leaving his or her back vulnerable. This protective amulet is here to protect from harmful and sneaky spirits attack as well as negative energies encountered during this ritual. The sound it produces can also scare off unwanted spirits.

This is a genuine shamanic amulet used by Mongol Shaman here in Mongolia. It is hand forged and thus unique. Note that as it is handmade the size may vary slightly. Also expect a little of the coating to rub off onto your fingers and for it to feature occasional scratches.
