This bundle is a must-have if you’re new to the morin khuur, or even if you’ve been playing for a while but want to learn the right techniques like they teach in Mongolia.
Every part of the course feels like a one-on-one lesson where everything is explained and shown in-depth, and Steve talks you through everything as he shows you the complete and utter basics up to the more advanced stuff; not just techniques and finger positions, but he also shares the rich history of the bow, the instrument and its predecessor.
On top of that there’s a big focus on maintaining the instrument, changing strings and just general troubleshooting tips that you might run into while having your hands on a fiddle.

While going through the course I suggest staying in touch with Steve as he can give you feedback throughout your learning process to make sure you’re on the right track.

I’m personally super grateful to Steve for putting this course together as it can be tricky to find the right information – especially in English – online about the intricate techniques and history of the morin khuur, so this is, again, a must-have.

If you want to have good start and foundation in your playing of the (traditional) morin khuur this is the course to get. You will build a solid base not only in playing but also in understanding the cultural background of the instrument. To make sure your knowledge is well learned, each topic includes a quiz element. When it comes to playing, you will always have Steve himself as your online teacher to provide feedback and guide you in the right direction. In short, a strong course with a good balance between theory and practice.
