Where are our instruments
coming from?
UUGUUL is proud to partner with EGSHIGLEN MAGNAI, which manufactures over 30 different musical instruments divided into four types such as stringed, bowed, whipping and blowing instruments.
EGSHIGLEN MAGNAI, established in 1991 by only two members, is the first private company manufacturing, trading and repairing Mongol’s folk music instruments.
They have been expanding since the 90’s until today, and currently have a team composed of 50 craftmen and craftwomen. Egshiglen uses modern progressive techniques and technology to deliver high quality instruments, along with bags and hardcases.

NB: The photos above show example of the various instruments. The colour, head design, wood texture can be different depending on the instrument in shop. Pictures or a test video will be provided in order to show you the current options available.
Your instrument will comes with the following:
- Modern bow for Morin Khuur – starting at $30
- Extra set of strings – $7
- Rosin – $5
- Mute (useful at the beginning) – $3
- Good quality Bag (colour will depends on what is available – usually dark greyish) – $25
- Wooden box for shipping – $25
- Shipping cost (we use the Mongol National Post for shipping. Usually around 10 to 15 days) – around $140
NB: Shipping to US is closer to $220 - Commission for advice, answering your questions, making an instrument test video, preparing and shipping the package as well as follow-up and assistance – $70
Note that if you are left handed it is important to mention it in the begining of your order. As left handed instruments are built differently, they are only available on request.
NB: These prices are subject to little change depending on the currency exchange rate.
Also, depending on your location extra custom taxes might add up to the cost mentioned above. Feel free to reach out to discuss about it and adjust your order to your need.
HOW DOES THE ORDER PROCESS WORK?
- Get in touch with us. (connecting through Discord, Messenger or Instagram chat is faster, and more comfortable and direct)
- Once in contact, we will discuss your budget and the type of instrument that you wish to acquire.
- We will prepare a test video with 2 – 4 instruments available that would fit your requirements. You can see some examples below.
- From that video you will be able to choose and validate the instrument that feels the best to you.
- Finally, we will send the final and detailed price for your order as well as information for the payment method.
- After reception of your payment using Western Union we will prepare and pack your instrument carefully in its bag, and ship it your way in a wooden-box. See below how we prepare the package.
- About two weeks later, you will be able to enjoy the Mongol tunes!
NB: Note that we use Western Union for safer, faster and easier service. Even if WU tend to have a lower exchange rate (the transfer will be in $), as it is direct, the fee are lower in the end.

PREPARATION OF THE PACKAGE
After checking the instrument, we put paper tape on the neck to put the marks for the main notes (Major Scale).
This will help you with your learning!
Then we add the few accessories.
Then we start protecting the instrument for shipping. The bridge is put down to avoid any break and the body and head are packed in protective wrapping.
The hardcase or the bag is then set in the shipping box.
Now ready for closing.
Then going to the post office for shipping.
Writing the shipping adress and custom details.
Ready to fly toward its new master!

That’s what I had with the morin khuur about a month and a half ago. “I’ve ordered a Morin Khuur and a Tovshuur from Steve, and I couldn’t be more satisfied about either. They sound and they look great, and they arrived very fast. Something like 10 days, from Mongolia to Belgium.
Steve isn’t a salesman, and let me tell you why this is a good thing: he’s not here to sell you a product, he’s here to help you choose something that fits your needs.
