A Short Story of the UUGUUL Cultural Center

UUGUUL was originally a cultural center founded by Steve E. MOREL in March 2019, located in the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, which quickly evolved into this international cultural sharing website.

The Evolution of the Center

Our first place, started in March 2019, located in the Utga Zohiol Deed Surguuli, in Ulaanbaatar.

By the end of June 2019, we decided to expand and move into the Choi. Luvsanjaw University of Language and Civilization, who kindly offered a space in their building to support our center.

Here is the room before starting the renovations

On the 28th of June 2019, the renovations start

During the renovations

Fixing few details in the first part of the room

Making new furnitures

Adjusting electricity and lights

Delivery of the felt that will cover the wall and ceiling of the main room

Installation overnight of the felt on the wall and ceiling

And finally finished in the morning

Delivery and installation of the yurt style decoration

Time to move to the new place

Final touch of the decoration

Now some cleaning

Setting the yurt decoration

Finally the center is ready to get back to its activities

Final preparation for tomorrow’s lecture

Unfortunately, after only 6 months of activity…

… the building being quite old, we had water troubles

After fixing the issue, it happened again, but this time in the main room…

Which forced us to move…

and stock the center as best as we can…

Was it a sign from the sky to push UUGUUL to get out of its room
and become international to touch even more people?
