This website is the continuation of Steve E. MOREL‘s dream and cultural intention born in March 2019, in the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar. UUGUUL aim to research, promote and contribute into the preservation of ancestral art and culture of Mongolia.
The Morin Khuur, the Ikel, the Urtiin Duu, the Mongol language, as well as ancestral art and music are at the core of this goal!
The word UUGUUL can be understood as Original (as in initial) or even Ancestral or Native.

Övgön buurain süyeger
(The wise words of a white haired forefather)
“Övgön buurain süyeger” (The wise words of a white haired forefather) is the first album of Steve E. Morel. It includes 15 tracks for a duration of 70mn. It is deeply inspired by his experience in Mongolia since 2014. All melody were composed on and for the traditional Mongol instrument “Ikel”. The intention behind this album is to give to the listener a feeling of proximity, as if the music was played just beside, maybe around a fire, without any artifice, simply the instrument, by itself. This album also wishes to create a space in which one may meditate, or even dance in the rhythm inspired by the bii.
FONT
The font CMS_uuguulBAMBAR /Classical Mongol script/ was created to easily share text in Mongol script on this website. The idea was to design a font that would look smooth (almost handwritten), and be comfortable to read. This font was created by getting inspiration mostly from the broad nib pen writing while also including some ideas and principles coming from the brush writing.
